MURDOCH MACKENZIE, second of Letterewe. He fought at the battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715, and at Glenshiel in 1719. When a very old man he was determined to be out again in 1745, but according to a family tradition his wife prevented him by pouring hot water on his feet, as if by accident, and scalded him so much that he was unable to walk.
