[316] -- King Sadasiva was apparently not strewn. [317] -- That Ali Adil actually made this visit is confirmed by the narrative of a Golkonda historian, whose work has been translated and published by Briggs (Firishtah, iii. The story may be compared with that told above of the visit of Firuz Shah Bahmani to King Deva Raya in A.D. 1406, which had a similar ending. [318] -- Dec. [319] -- See also Briggs' "Firistah," iii. 403 -- 405. [320] -- Firishtah relates an interesting anecdote about this in his history of the Ahmadnagar Sultans.英文原著 · 《A Forgotten Empire-Vijayanagar》
In looking over the bound volume of this magazine, I am amused at the grown-up style of thought assumed by myself, probably its very youngest contributor. I wrote a dissertation on "Fame," quoting from Pollok, Cowper, and Milton, and ending with Diedrich Knickerbocker's definition of immortal fame,--"Half a page of dirty paper." For other titles I had "Thoughts on Beauty;" "Gentility;" "Sympathy," etc. And in one longish poem, entitled "My Childhood" (written when I was about fifteen), I find verses like these, which would seem to have come out of a mature experience:--英文原著 · 《A New England Girlhood》

The village is only a tiny hamlet, ending in a small trattoria with a rough terrace above the sea, overlooking a strip of sand where a few boats lie.英文原著 · 《A Spirit in Prison》
The twilight deepened; the murk grew denser. There was little to look at, but much to feel. The motion of the boat, which was due to the never-ending struggle between the male stones and the force of gravitation, resembled in an exaggerated fashion the violent tossing of a small craft on a choppy sea. The two passengers became unhappy. Haunte, from his seat in the stern, gazed at them sardonically with one eye. The darkness now came on rapidly. About ninety minutes after the commencement of the voyage they arrived at the foothills of Lichstorm. They began to mount.英文原著 · 《A Voyage to Arcturus》
